Faces at AACN

Just last month I took a nurse’s trip to Chicago, IL to attend the American Association of Critical-care Nurses (AACN) National Teaching Institute Conference. There I was joined by over 6,000 critical care nurses and nursing students. Chicago was definitely the safest place in the world from April 30-May 5th. When I arrived I received a VIP 2 man police escort from the L-train to my hotel all because I asked for directions and just so happen to mention I was a nurse. Who doesn’t love a nurse?!? We’ve been the #1 trusted profession for the past 11 years with the exception of 2001, when firefighters beat us out for their heroism and service during 9/11.

The conference was loaded with tons of leadership and learning opportunities. This was definitely chicken soup for the nurse’s soul. Next year conference is in Orlando, FL. For those who can’t wait until then, Contemporary Forums presents Progressive Care Pathways in Las Vegas, NV later this year Nov 9-12th. And guess who’s on deck to present? But of course – ME! Stay tuned for more details.

And kudos to Robin at ADVANCE for Nurses who was on site covering the event. Here’s a picture of me along with fellow National and local board members at the AACN President’s luncheon.
