Healthy teeth are happy teeth

Isn’t it obvious why she was able to snatch up Dwayne Wade? Gabrielle Unions smile is radiant! Your mouth is truly your calling card – what it looks like,  what it says and how it smells. How many times have you stared into someones mouth or even had to hold your breath while they finished what they were saying? So just like Jazmine Sullivan, “I’m not scared of “Lions, Tigers and Bears” but I AM scared of cavities, crowns and root canals (oh my)! It only takes 2 minutes so why don’t more people follow suit? More than half of Americans only brush their teeth once a day and less than that dental floss. Brushing your teeth correctly and using dental floss removes food and bacteria caught between teeth that can cause cavities and gum disease. So its not just about having pearly whites because tooth color is not an absolute indicator of oral health. Although the oral aesthetics are nice incentives, what’s more important are warding off bad breath, cavities, and periodontal disease which can be painful for everyone.

Now I realize you get busy or you might forget but keep that up and it will only lead to being yuck mouth (YM). We’ve all seen it and it’s the malodorous truth! And this YM will require more than just a piece of gum. Waiting to see the dentist until you can’t go another day will not only hurt you but your pockets. So big tymer… do you really floss or do you have YM tendencies?

TAKE THE HIP & HEALTHY DENTAL QUIZ

*Do you brush your teeth at least twice a day?
*Do you use a fluoride toothpaste?
*Do you clean in between your teeth by flossing?
*Do you brush ALL surfaces of your teeth? (inner tongue  side, chewing surfaces, inside of the front teeth & tongue)
*Do you use mouthwash regularly?
*Do you change your tooth brush at least every 3-6 months?
*Do you visit a dentist for routine visits & follow recommendations?

If you answered NO to ANY of these questions… you just might have YM tendencies. More to come on this topic… stay tuned.
