Wale Tweets Eats on Tour

Ok… now I LOVE good music just like the next which is why I couldn’t help but notice this tweet from music artist, Wale

RECORD SCRATCH!!! Now you know the nurse in me couldn’t sit still on the sidelines with this. I was holding my tongue until I heard back from the rapper and his camp (sorry Dallas & David) however this Lotus had to bloom… LOL.

Besides as most of you may know (or should know) Wale is on tour as he ramps up for the release of his new album, Ambition on 11/1/11. So I’ll give him a pass for not yet responding… for now. The DC rapper has been filming videos, making appearances and having album release parties left and right.  But let’s be clear! Wale is not alone when he mentions how easy it is to eat unhealthy while on the go.  He was just lucky enough to get caught by Nurse Alice. I’m sure many of us can relate to having to resort to eating what’s available vs what we’d really like to eat. So as Wale shared with his twitter fam… being on the go can put you  in the situation where you have to eat what’s quick, fast and on the way. Sound familiar? The key in those situations is to select the health“ier” choice. So maybe pass on the double cheese burger; and opt for the grilled chicken salad. Ever try a veggie or turkey burger instead? How about a burger with no sauces? Dropping the ketchup, mustard, mayo and pickles cuts down on tons of additional salt & calories. Don’t knock it before you try it! And try drinking a no caffeine, no calorie drink vs traditional pop? FYI soda pop is overrated – water is a very good look!  These short cuts may sound very minor but over years they definitely add up! And depending on where and when you’re eating, that’s all you have because sometimes there are no healthy choices. That’s why it’s so important to NOT let bad eating habits become a pattern for everyday life on the go. You truly are what you eat. A lot of fried, salty, greasy foods and sweets will have have things like stroke, hypertension and diabetes knocking at you’re door. Another option to consider is planning ahead. When you know you’re gonna be on the go with little time to cook or grab meals, TRY (key word) to pack some healthy snacks or plan meals ahead of time. Grab some fruit or granola bars to snack on inbetween sets or on breaks. Where is the closest Subway? And include the travel time to get there in your schedule. And yes, to eat the health”ier” choice may cost a few extra dollars and cut into your time a little but it’s worth it. Your health is priceless. And I know!!! It isn’t always doeable HOWEVER…. most of us know what our schedules run & what our budgets are so DAMMIT – just do the best you can is all I can say. Help me help you. Life’s not perfect but you have to start somewhere. So let’s start today by picking up the pieces realizing that every little change, tip, or piece of advice to live happier and healthier is what its all about. And if you do end up eating the “occasional” something crappy… don’t beat yourself up over it. Get it right for next time! And make sure to work it out a little harder and go longer in the gym next time to offset the bad. Healthy is the new sexy.

So back to Wale… I’m buying the album and going to a show to support good music! Now here’s my invite to Wale (and his fans)…. tweet a few of your health”ier” choices and include me on those tweets @AskNurseAlice. I’d love to hear what you have to say about eating health”ier” on the go.

And on another note, much love and speedy recovery to Wale’s Maybach Music label mate, Rick Ross. Fans definitely would like to see the two of them up and running together again! Check out the latest video of Wale, Rick Ross & Jeremih in That Way.

In 2008, Wale signed to Interscope Record  and his debut album Attention Deficit was released in 2009 with the singles “Chillin”, “Pretty Girls”, and “World Tour”. The album received positive reviews from critics. In early 2011 Wale signed on with Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group, where members of the label released a compilation album, Self Made Vol. 1 on May 23, 2011. Wales new album “Ambition” is set to drop 11/1/11. Stay tuned for great things from this artist.
